Turkiye13th Century
The wing comprises two pieces and is arranged into three panels surrounded by a band of triangular teeth on top and the sides. The traces of scarphs on the sides indicate that it once had a frame with a doorpost and capital. The first panel features a cartouche flanked with floral designs on both sides and the inscription in it means “continuous dignity and fortune”. The second panel has a big medallion with a composition of eight-pointed stars formed by flat-backed stripes; in its spandrels are palmette-rumi compositions symmetrical about a single axis. The bottom panel has a geometric guilloche of six-pointed stars and hexagons formed with grooved stripes. Absence of an element bounding the third panel at the bottom suggests that the wing was cut from this side making the wing smaller.
